Sade Mateo Presentation Reflection

My first presentation to the class was on chapter 10: Group Leadership and Problem Solving. We were all assigned to a subchapter, equally dividing the work among all of us. I learned countless information on the subject my group and I covered, as the same with the other two class presentations. There are many things I can say about my group - reliable, friendly, efficient - and I'm proud to say I was apart of that. My subchapter was on communicating group solutions, which is about the different kinds of deliverables and how they're shared with one another.
At first, when I was assigned to this group, I was mistrustful and unconvinced with the project as a whole. In the past, I had bad luck working in groups, as there is always someone who doesn't do the work or one that doesn't show up on presentation day, but my group showed me otherwise. We quickly created a group chat and went straight to work. Our group leader was there to answer any questions and immediately clarified any misunderstandings the rest of us had. It's safe to say we had each others back. I am grateful that I was partnered up with someone who is productive and amicable. We quickly worked on our section and kept each other updated on the work progress. We both finished our section and presented it on presentation day.
I'm an introvert so I get nervous when its my time to talk to an audience (my class in this case) and of-course I got timid when it was my time to present. I put my fear to the side and though it only took about a few minutes to share my work with the class, it felt like an eternity. I felt as if I didn't do well, but my group quickly reassured me and I felt better. I believe my group did an amazing job overall, from working on the slides and submitting everything on time to presenting and sharing the information they learned to the class.
Group one covered chapter 3: Intercultural Communication. They had a nice-looking presentation, which I believe gave us an idea on how to make our presentation visually pleasing as theirs were. I learned many things, such as how cultures differ and how individualism and collectivism influence many aspects of communication. I loved how everyone in that group was prepared and how they presented it to the class. I believe they were the only group that presented with all cameras on. Group two covered chapter 9: Communicating in Groups. They also has a nice-looking presentation. What I learned from their presentation was the different type of groups, such as social groups and support groups. I also learned what an interest group was, which is a group composed of people who come together because they share a common interest or hobby.
I'm excited to see what else I will learn from this class!

Until next time,
Sade Mateo
