Group Reflection Blog

Working on this first project for the class was my first true time working as a whole group to achieve something and it was a great experience. This presentation was about group leadership and problem solving and it made me realize the importance of organizing together as a group. Coincidentally, my partners and I's sub chapter was on group presentations, which was a huge and massive help as it gave great tips and points that I personally used while preparing our presentation. We also had a great leader in Grace, who did a great job of trying to get everything together and helping us if we had any trouble. When I heard of a "group presentation", I initially thought of it as a drag because I've always preferred to do presentations myself in high school, but this was definitely a whole new experience. They say team work makes the dream work and we definitely did a great job of coming together to produce, what I thought, was a great presentation. Groups one and two also had great presentations. They also clearly had great team work and harmony as their presentations not only looked great, but were also organized and were full of great information. They also had funny videos to make the learning easier and intuitive. I would say every group had a mixture of visually appealing slides, funny videos and nice pictures, and to the point information that got one sorted on what they were reading. I learned a lot of things from all the presentations. As I mentioned, I learned the importance of group team work and organization, the importance of a great leader and leadership within a group, intercultural communication, communication within groups, and problem solving as a leader and problem solving within a group. Our group, which was group three, applied a lot of problem solving methods that were learned within our chapter. Although I wasn't the leader of Group three, I also learned a lot of important things about leaders in our chapter. As I mentioned above, my sub chapter was about group presentations and evaluating group effectiveness. Group dynamics add to group effectiveness as I learned in the sub chapter and our group was very dynamic with each other. I believe that added great value to our presentation. My favorite part of this whole experience was simply meeting new people. My group was full of nice and caring people who really cared about producing a great presentation. Everyone was friendly to each other in the group chat which made the whole process smoother. We also all came together if anyone needed help or suggestions with their part of the presentation. I personally received a lot of help from the group members which was great. Overall, this was a great and unique experience like I said. I saw some great presentations, I met some great and friendly people, I learned some valuable things about leadership and group work, and I saw the importance of efficient team work.
