I enjoyed the presentation and all of the work that went into it a lot. The group and the teamwork involved, were all great. Our chapter was all about group leadership and problem solving. Every subchapter was assigned to a few people in the group, and our work on the presentation began.
The first sub-chapter was about leadership. It went through the different types of leadership roles, functions, tasks, responsibilities, and so on... The first topic of leadership was task roles, which went through the different roles, such as givers, seekers and analyzers. Second topic was maintenance roles, such as supporters, interpreters, harmonizers, and mediators. Third topic was procedural roles, such as logistics coordinators, expediters, gatekeepers, and recorders. Fourth topic was about the shared leadership responsibilities, such as being committed to the group goal, or managing conflict among members. Next Subchapter was Effective Meetings, this subchapter went over the guidelines for effective meetings. First topic was about guidelines for meeting leaders, which went over the preparation and distribution of an agenda, managing meeting logistics, reviewing the meeting outcomes, and so on... Second topic was about guidelines for meeting participants, which went over a step by step “checklist” so to say, for before the meeting, during the meeting, and after the meeting. Some of those guidelines include, doing your homework before the meeting, listening attentively during the meeting, and communicating progress after the meeting. The next subchapter was about systematic problem solving, which went over exactly that, problem solving in the workplace/team. First topic went over how to identify and define the problem. Second topic went over analyzing the problem, third topic went over determining criteria for judging solutions, fourth topic went over the process of generating a host of solutions, by the process of brainstorming, it also goes over some things to avoid, such as criticizing peoples first ideas, and ignoring ideas. Fifth topic went over evaluation of the solutions and decision making, this section goes over the various decision making methods, such as expert opinion method, group average method, majority rule method, and so on… Sixth topic went over implementing the solution and reassessing it in the future. The next chapter went over communicating group solutions. The first topic was about the different written formats, such as written briefs, and comprehensive reports. The next topic is about oral formats, such as oral briefs, oral reports, and so on. The third topic is about the various virtual formats, such as streams and remote access reports. The last, and shortest subchapter, was about evaluating group effectiveness. It went over 2 small, main topics, those being group dynamics, and group presentations. Group dynamics went over what is needed to be effective, such as working together, analyzing problems, generating solutions, and selecting a course of action. These communication interactions among members to achieve a goal are known as group dynamics. The group presentations topic goes over effective group presentations, which consist of group performance, quality of presentation, group and individual components, and so on. That’s about it.
Excellent!!
